Following my PDP report about the targets I want to reach in the short term, one of them was to become a member of management. I had a discussion with my F&B manager about my position in the company for future. I informed her that I am interested in a management position within this company, because I appreciate the way the managers treat employees, the fact that I feel important and my hard work is recognized by management, the payment is also good compared to similar positions in other companies and also there are a lot of benefits.
She advised me that if I want such a position I have to make it clear to my restaurant manager and ask him to give more responsibility. And I did. He was happy to hear about my intention and ambition and since then, my daily routine has slightly changed. For instance, now I am responsible with the number of guests booking through Top Table.com, in order to keep a certain number per day. I check the bookings, then accept or reject them.
Also, most of the times when there is a cocktail to mix, I run to do it, so I can practice more and be faster in preparing them. I have managed to learn more about spirits also from our sommelier, who coaches me when there is a cocktail that I haven't done before. So, little by little I am developing also my knowledge about spirits.
