Your Personality Profile
Description: stretch diagram

This diagram is explained
in the Full Reports.
Welcome to your MMDI™ online report. This free online report is an extract of the full MMDI reports, which are available for a small cost (as stated at the top of the questionnaire).
This report introduces some sophisticated concepts which you need to consider because your personality is complex. If you base important decisions on too-simple an understanding of your personality or leadership style, it can have damaging consequences for you. For example, you might choose an unsuitable career, mishandle an important situation, or fail to realise your full potential.
The report starts by introducing some generic information that everyone who is new to personality type theory needs to know - the four basic preferences. It then introduces more advanced topics and presents some information that isn't available anywhere else - whether on the internet, in books, or in commercially-produced reports. This includes the links between personality type and leadership style, and unique, illustrative diagrams such as your personality radar, leadership radar and mental muscle diagram.

Your personality type at present is probably ESTP.
If your closest personality type is ESTP then you are an action oriented problem solver. You enjoy getting things done, and taking action to solve practical problems. You are in your element when there is a crisis requiring urgent action, which you are able to resolve. If you have any particular skills (e.g.: sports, crafts or sales) then you enjoy applying those skills to reach a tangible goal (winning a game, making a sale, or building something tangible).
Your most natural leadership style is probably Action-oriented Leadership.
Action-oriented leadership involves taking action and leading by example. An action-oriented leader has a strong sense of immediacy, focusing on the task in hand and seeing it through to fruition. The role of other people in the organisation is to support the action-oriented leader (e.g.: a sports captain, or racing driver).
Your unique MMDI code is qynn.
The MMDI code identifies your unique combination of preferences.
"Every individual is an exception to the rule. Hence one can never give a description of a type, no matter how complete, that would apply to more than one individual." (C.G. Jung Psychological Types, p. 516).

Preferences: a simple overview

E
I

Do you prefer to direct energy towards the outer world of people
and things (E) or the inner world of ideas and information (I)?
Extroversion involves interacting with people, having broad interests, and tending to act first and then think.
Introversion involves concentrating on a few, deep issues, and thinking things through before acting.

S
N

Do you prefer to deal with facts and tangible
outcomes (S) or possibilities and potential (N)?
Sensation looks at facts, takes a practical approach and tends to be interested in clear, detailed information.
iNtuition looks at potential and possibilities, and tends to be interested in what is not yet known.

T
F

Do you prefer to decide on the basis of
objective logic (T) or subjective values (F)?
Thinking involves using principles, taking a detached, objective view as an onlooker, analysing and criticising.
Feeling involves using values, taking a personal, subjective view as a participant, valuing and appreciating.

J
P

Do you prefer to live an organised and structured
life (J) or be flexible and go with the flow (P)?
Judgement structures and controls life, making decisions and establishing closure or stability.
Perception retains flexibility, inquiring, being spontaneous, keeping options open and waiting to see what develops.

There are three main ways to look at your personality. The simplest is in terms of four preferences, and your preferences are shown by the bars in the table. You combine the letters to get your personality type code, i.e.:ESTP. The MMDI suggests that you also consider whether your type might be ESFP. The reason for this will become apparent on the next screen, which discusses a more sophisticated approach.
These four letters are too simple to use in making important decisions. As an analogy, the world has two hemispheres: North and South, and countries in the North can be very different. When looking for somewhere to live, you would not simply choose 'any' country in the North (compare, say, Greenland and Somalia).
In a similar way, you need a more sophisticated understanding of your personality if you are going to make important decisions that affect your work, relationships or future.

The second of three ways to look at your personality is to treat the sixteen personality types as reference points. This is akin to looking at a map and using landmarks to work out your unique location. The scores in the table show how closely your personality matches each type.
The MMDI thinks your closest type is ESTP, or perhaps ESFP. However, there is no type you are identical with, nor one that you are completely unalike. This is normal because most people are between two or more types.1

The third way of looking at your personality is represented by your mental muscle diagram (right). The full Type Dynamics report uses this diagram to explore your personality in depth - to find out what makes you tick. For example, the bubble at the top represents your 'dominant function'.
The dominant function of an ESTP is the perceptive one of Sensing. This means you like looking at information in terms of facts and details, focus more on the here and now rather than possibilities for the future, feel comfortable in areas of proven experience, and take a realistic approach.
The perceptive Sensing function is extraverted. That is, Sensing is used primarily to govern the outer world of actions and spoken words. You therefore probably seek to experience and enjoy the world as it is, being very responsive to current events and, being pragmatic in nature, life tends to be a succession of events. You keep looking for problems to solve and are in your element when you are up against an urgent problem or trouble-shooting.
The full Type Dynamics report examines all the functions in your personality and their different characteristics (their importance, orientation, consciousness, how active/passive each is, etc.). It also compares how your individual profile is viewed differently by Isabel Briggs Myers' version of the theory and C.G. Jung's version.

Improve your influencing skills

Description: http://www.teamtechnology.co.uk/g-pages/influencing.jpg
There are many ways that you can put knowledge of your preferences and personality theory to good use. One of those is influencing, which is useful in almost every situation - whether applying for a job, asking your boss for a pay rise, or trying to improve a relationship.
For example, as you have preferences for Sensation, your tendency might be to provide facts, evidence or detail. However, with an "N", there is a risk that you might swamp them with too much information (iNtuitives usually want the general picture, not the detail). To be more influential, adapt your style to their preferences. Give an overview and then focus on the possibilities. Don't go into detail unless asked. Discuss the most important pieces of information, in order of importance, rather than going through each step in chronological order.
You can develop your influencing skills using the book Influencing People Using Myers Briggs. It shows you how to spot other people's personality types, and use that information to lead, manage, persuade, or develop better relationships with them. The book is included with the full Personality Type report.

Develop Your Leadership Potential

You can use knowledge of your preferences to develop your leadership potential - by finding the right balance between your natural leadership style and the demands of the context in which you lead. If you put too much emphasis on your own needs, your performance can suffer. If you neglect your prefrences, however, this can lead to stress or executive burnout.
Your most natural leadership style is probably as an action-oriented leader. Action-oriented leadership involves taking action and leading by example. An action-oriented leader has a strong sense of immediacy, focusing on the task in hand and seeing it through to fruition. The role of other people in the organisation is to support the action-oriented leader (e.g.: a sports captain, or racing driver).

The full Leadership Report examines the demands of being a leader in various industries and disciplines. These demands are represented in a similar diagrammatic form to your profile, so they can be compared. The report also considers the behavioural changes that are typically required when moving into a new leadership role, and identifies ways that you can develop your leadership qualities and skills.
