Following my PDP report about the targets I want to reach in the short term, one of them was to become a member of management. I had a discussion with my F&B manager about my position in the company for future. I informed her that I am interested in a management position within this company, because I appreciate the way the managers treat employees, the fact that I feel important and my hard work is recognized by management, the payment is also good compared to similar positions in other companies and also there are a lot of benefits.
She advised me that if I want such a position I have to make it clear to my restaurant manager and ask him to give more responsibility. And I did. He was happy to hear about my intention and ambition and since then, my daily routine has slightly changed. For instance, now I am responsible with the number of guests booking through Top Table.com, in order to keep a certain number per day. I check the bookings, then accept or reject them.
Also, most of the times when there is a cocktail to mix, I run to do it, so I can practice more and be faster in preparing them. I have managed to learn more about spirits also from our sommelier, who coaches me when there is a cocktail that I haven't done before. So, little by little I am developing also my knowledge about spirits.

Leader and Manager
When I think of me as a manager, I want to have a very clear vision of what the business itself should be. That is why I joined college, I asked my manager for trainings and read books about Hospitality. The purpose of training is to improve knowledge and skills and to change attitudes, being a most important motivator for me.
Besides technical knowledge, understanding and experience, I have to have trust, respect and discipline between the employees.
I would bestow considerable trust upon the employees, and in return I would ask that they trust my judgement. I would respect them as individuals and encourage them to respect each other, having a quick and consistent approach to discipline. When someone makes a mistake I would point out what they have done, explain why it caused a problem and tell them what to do to remedy the situation. After that it would be over and forgotten, as far as I would be concerned.
I also interviewed my manager regarding a honest feedback about my performance and my leadership skills and how would he rate my ability to:
-understand roles and responsabilities of colleagues and stakeholders (8);
-behave in a professional and respectful manner to all colleagues and stakeholders (9);
-take pride in delivering high quality work and identify ways of improving the team performance (10);
-monitor and review own personal development (9);
-communicate effectivly with colleagues,using appropriate techniques and methods (9);
-provide support and advice to team members (10);
-monitor and evaluate individual and team activities (8).
Rates:
10 - Exceptional performance - consistently well above what would be expected;
9 - Excellent performance - above what would be expected;
8 - Performs to the standard that is expected for his role and level of seniority.

Leadership Skills and Personal Develpment
Throughout my year and a half spent in my actual place of work (One-O-One Restaurant), I have climbed up the hierarchy of Marlow, from basic needs like, money to buy food and drinks, rent an apartment, to the next stage of security and stability of place of work. After I start knowing better the organisation I was working for, I start feeling the need for be a part of the big family, to be loved by those I worked with. Now I find myself at the stage where I am looking to satisfy my self-esteem, I want recognition and promotion. For this I have spoken with my manager, assistant manager and head waiter to see how is my work performance, how satisfied are they with what I do, what are my strengths and weaknesses from a management point of view and what skills I need to develop to be part of the management team. I took Adair's list of leadership qualities and asked them to rate me against it.
I was very pleasantly surprised to see that what I thought about myself, knowledge and skills I poses or I need to improve were almost the same with what they said about me. The conclusion was:
My model was one of my first managers that I worked with in USA. He knew how to be friendly in situations and how to put a limit to it; he knew how to motivated all the team members to give the best at work, he had always a positive attitude, was enthusiastic about his work and had the sense of integrity and fairness that gave us confidence to talk with him any problem arise at work. I worked for him because I loved the place and also because I had great respect for him. From him I learned how to handle difficult situations at work, with the customers or colleagues, how to be passionate about everything I do, I learned to be a team worker and give the best of me, to push my limits for achieving guest satisfaction.
To summarise, everything I achieved until now, professionally, I owe it to him. He showed me how good management can encourage personal achievements as well as business success.

- I am very confident when I am asked to do things which I know and I am sure of (taking food orders, making food recommendations, matching wine with food orders, etc.), but once I am given the chance to do stand up and do something the rest of my team wouldn't do (take care of VIP table in the private salon ), I hesitate to take responsibility.
- I am enthusiastic, I love what I do and I show it to my colleagues and guests
- I behave in a professional and respectful manner towards all my colleagues and managers
- I provide support and advice to my team members
- I have integrity and judge conflicts with fairness

Your Personality Profile™
This diagram is explained
in the Full Reports.
Welcome to your MMDI™ online report. This free online report is an extract of the full MMDI reports, which are available for a small cost (as stated at the top of the questionnaire).
This report introduces some sophisticated concepts which you need to consider because your personality is complex. If you base important decisions on too-simple an understanding of your personality or leadership style, it can have damaging consequences for you. For example, you might choose an unsuitable career, mishandle an important situation, or fail to realise your full potential.
The report starts by introducing some generic information that everyone who is new to personality type theory needs to know - the four basic preferences. It then introduces more advanced topics and presents some information that isn't available anywhere else - whether on the internet, in books, or in commercially-produced reports. This includes the links between personality type and leadership style, and unique, illustrative diagrams such as your personality radar, leadership radar and mental muscle diagram.

Your personality type at present is probably ESTP.
If your closest personality type is ESTP then you are an action oriented problem solver. You enjoy getting things done, and taking action to solve practical problems. You are in your element when there is a crisis requiring urgent action, which you are able to resolve. If you have any particular skills (e.g.: sports, crafts or sales) then you enjoy applying those skills to reach a tangible goal (winning a game, making a sale, or building something tangible).
Your most natural leadership style is probably Action-oriented Leadership.
Action-oriented leadership involves taking action and leading by example. An action-oriented leader has a strong sense of immediacy, focusing on the task in hand and seeing it through to fruition. The role of other people in the organisation is to support the action-oriented leader (e.g.: a sports captain, or racing driver).
Your unique MMDI code is qynn.
The MMDI code identifies your unique combination of preferences.
"Every individual is an exception to the rule. Hence one can never give a description of a type, no matter how complete, that would apply to more than one individual." (C.G. Jung Psychological Types, p. 516).

There are three main ways to look at your personality. The simplest is in terms of four preferences, and your preferences are shown by the bars in the table. You combine the letters to get your personality type code, i.e.:ESTP. The MMDI suggests that you also consider whether your type might be ESFP. The reason for this will become apparent on the next screen, which discusses a more sophisticated approach.
These four letters are too simple to use in making important decisions. As an analogy, the world has two hemispheres: North and South, and countries in the North can be very different. When looking for somewhere to live, you would not simply choose 'any' country in the North (compare, say, Greenland and Somalia).
In a similar way, you need a more sophisticated understanding of your personality if you are going to make important decisions that affect your work, relationships or future.

The second of three ways to look at your personality is to treat the sixteen personality types as reference points. This is akin to looking at a map and using landmarks to work out your unique location. The scores in the table show how closely your personality matches each type.
The MMDI thinks your closest type is ESTP, or perhaps ESFP. However, there is no type you are identical with, nor one that you are completely unalike. This is normal because most people are between two or more types.1
If your closest personality type is ESTP then you are an action oriented problem solver. You enjoy getting things done, and taking action to solve practical problems. You are in your element when there is a crisis requiring urgent action, which you are able to resolve. Type Dynamics: your individuality

Your Mental Muscle Diagram
The third way of looking at your personality is represented by your mental muscle diagram (right). The full Type Dynamics report uses this diagram to explore your personality in depth - to find out what makes you tick. For example, the bubble at the top represents your 'dominant function'.
The dominant function of an ESTP is the perceptive one of Sensing. This means you like looking at information in terms of facts and details, focus more on the here and now rather than possibilities for the future, feel comfortable in areas of proven experience, and take a realistic approach.
The perceptive Sensing function is extraverted. That is, Sensing is used primarily to govern the outer world of actions and spoken words. You therefore probably seek to experience and enjoy the world as it is, being very responsive to current events and, being pragmatic in nature, life tends to be a succession of events. You keep looking for problems to solve and are in your element when you are up against an urgent problem or trouble-shooting.
The full Type Dynamics report examines all the functions in your personality and their different characteristics (their importance, orientation, consciousness, how active/passive each is, etc.). It also compares how your individual profile is viewed differently by Isabel Briggs Myers' version of the theory and C.G. Jung's version.

Improve your influencing skills
Top of Form
Bottom of Form
mircea ciadi
There are many ways that you can put knowledge of your preferences and personality theory to good use. One of those is influencing, which is useful in almost every situation - whether applying for a job, asking your boss for a pay rise, or trying to improve a relationship.
For example, as you have preferences for Sensation, your tendency might be to provide facts, evidence or detail. However, with an "N", there is a risk that you might swamp them with too much information (iNtuitives usually want the general picture, not the detail). To be more influential, adapt your style to their preferences. Give an overview and then focus on the possibilities. Don't go into detail unless asked. Discuss the most important pieces of information, in order of importance, rather than going through each step in chronological order.
You can develop your influencing skills using the book Influencing People Using Myers Briggs. It shows you how to spot other people's personality types, and use that information to lead, manage, persuade, or develop better relationships with them. The book is included with the full Personality Type report.

Develop Your Leadership Potential
Top of Form

mircea ciadi
You can use knowledge of your preferences to develop your leadership potential - by finding the right balance between your natural leadership style and the demands of the context in which you lead. If you put too much emphasis on your own needs, your performance can suffer. If you neglect your prefrences, however, this can lead to stress or executive burnout.
Your most natural leadership style is probably as an action-oriented leader. Action-oriented leadership involves taking action and leading by example. An action-oriented leader has a strong sense of immediacy, focusing on the task in hand and seeing it through to fruition. The role of other people in the organisation is to support the action-oriented leader (e.g.: a sports captain, or racing driver).
The full Leadership Report examines the demands of being a leader in various industries and disciplines. These demands are represented in a similar diagrammatic form to your profile, so they can be compared. The report also considers the behavioural changes that are typically required when moving into a new leadership role, and identifies ways that you can develop your leadership qualities and skills.
